My super amazing wonderful friend Missi got promoted to blue belt on Saturday. She's been working her ass of and she deserves it. I'm so unbelievably proud of her!

It's that time of year

Usually the lights make me feel more Santa and less Scrooge. Maybe it's that there are fewer lights this year, but I just can't force myself to care. I finished my shopping with 3 weeks to go and now all I want to do is make everyone open their gifts early. Christmas is just an arbitrarily chosen day to celebrate a made up holiday anyway, why not open things early? I've gotten a few people to cave, but it hasn't been easy. Still I did try to choose things that were actually useful and individual to the people and didn't pay much attention to the cost. I'm averaging about $35 a person right now. When you're buying for 24 people, that's not small change. Sigh. The truly ironic thing is that this year I actually don't want anything. I guess that's good since I don't think anyone's really getting me anything. Fuck holidays. Fuck consumerism. Fuck the economy.
